Govt will work for development of Himachal: CM designate

Expressing gratitude to the Gandhi family, Himachal Pradesh designated Chief Minister and Congress leader Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday said the government would work for the development of the state.
 
"Our government will bring change. We will work for the development of Himachal Pradesh," Sukhu, who started his political career at the age of 18, told the media in his first statement after being named the new Chief Minister.

MP sees no Covid-19 case, death or recovery; active tally now eight

Madhya Pradesh on Saturday did not report a single Covid-19 case, death or recovery, a health official said. 

The tally in the state was 1,054,911, the toll stood at 10,776 and the recovery count was 1,044,127, he said.
 
The active tally in Madhya Pradesh was eight, he said.

Bomb explodes at mall in Pakistan; 1 killed, 7 injured

A person was killed and seven others were injured in a bomb blast at a shopping mall in Pakistan's restive Baluchistan province on Saturday, police said. A senior police official said the bomb disposal squad has found evidence that a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the 'terror attack' in Awaran district.

Mumbai records 10 cases of measles, no fresh fatalities

Mumbai recorded 10 cases of measles in the last 24 hours and no new fatalities, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said. The city has recorded 457 measles cases and eight fatalities so far this year, the official said. Four suspected fatalities due to the infection, including that of a four-year-old child in Kurla who had not been vaccinated, are yet to be confirmed, he said. As per a release issued by the civic body, of 2,35,878 children in the age group of nine months to five years, 30,506 children were given additional doses of Measles-Rubella (MR) special dose.

Roads got submerged and traffic was disrupted, as rivers overflowed in several areas of the KVB Puram Mandal due to heavy rainfall in the region following Cyclone Mandous. The areas that faced such overflow of rivers included Kovanur, Thimmasamudram, and Rajula Kandiga.

Kerala seed farm declared as first carbon neutral farm in the country

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday declared a seed farm, located in Aluva, as the first carbon neutral farm in the country. A significant reduction in carbon emission has helped the seed farm, under the Agricultural Department, achieve carbon neutral status, he said making the announcement.
