West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was visibly pleased with the largesse extended by the Planning Commission. The state had sought Rs 24,800 crore for the current financial year and instead received Rs 25,910 crore. This is 16 per cent rise in plan outlay for the state over last year. Banerjee was here in the capital on Tuesday to meet the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia. Banerjee later said, “We are really grateful to the Planning Commission. The plan outlay has been increased by 16 per cent. We discussed about the road infrastructure, education, minorities, industry and agriculture also.”
