President nods for probe into charges against Allahabad University VC

President Pranab Mukherjee has given the nod to the HRD Ministry to conduct a fact-finding inquiry into allegations levelled against the Vice Chancellor of the Allahabad University.

According to sources, the HRD Ministry had recently written to the President seeking an inquiry into a complaint against varsity authorities.

"The President has approved the proposal for a fact- finding inquiry into the complaint against the VC alleging administrative and other irregularities," a senior official said.

The HRD Ministry had forwarded two proposals seeking fact- finding inquiries into complaints against the VCs of the Allahabad University and the Aligarh Muslim University.

The Ministry needs the President's nod before instituting such inquiries as he is the Visitor of all central universities.
