As many as 486 of 677 eligible students of the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), a constituent of the Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University (SOA), have been picked by top recruiters during campus placement held recently.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest software consultancy firm, alone has hired 403 students.

“What is amazing is that 94 per cent of the students cleared the on-line test conducted by TCS which is the highest from any institute across the country”, said Raj Kumar Hota, ITER’s Additional Dean and Placement In-charge.

All the students belonged to B.Tech, M Tech and MCA streams of the institute who will be passing out in May 2011.Hota said that Wipro had recruited 51 students from ITER so far while Ashok Leyland had offered the highest pay package of Rs 7.5 lakh per annum to four B Tech students from the mechanical engineering stream.ITER had achieved 95 per cent placement for students who passed out in 2010 while the recruitment by companies for 2011 pass out students in the campus recruitment had reached 72 per cent till now, Hota said.

“Around 30 other companies would be visiting the campus over the next two months and we expect 100 per cent placement for eligible students when they pass out in May 2011”, he added.
