The federation has signed an MoU with the IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation) in this regard.
While the railways would allocate sites on the platforms, the IRCTC would design their interiors. The Aavin authorities would select the agents from whom a deposit of Rs 7,000 would be collected. The rent would be paid by the stall owners to the railways as prescribed by the IRCTC.
Apart from hot milk, the stalls would sell value-added products like ice-cream, gulabjamun, kova, milk powder, and ghee. At the Tiruchirappalli junction, Aavin would set up stalls on five platforms.
The federation also plans to upgrade its 18 parlours at places like Chennai Egmore, Jolarpet, Trichy, Villupuram, Madurai and Dindigul.
