Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday asked top government officials to submit progress reports on welfare schemes, which are being implemented across the state, once in a month so that steps could be initiated for plugging the loopholes, if any.

“We are spending thousands of crores of rupees towards Aarogyasri, fee reimbursement, subsidised rice, free power for farmers, pensions for old-aged, disabled and widows. What I want is that the benefits of these programmes, ie each rupee we are spending, should and must reach the targeted genuine beneficiary,” Reddy said.

Directing chief secretary, SV Prasad, to interact with the special chief secretaries, principal secretaries and other officials frequently to discuss and resolve if there were any constraints in the implementations of the schemes, the chief minister said there should be no red tapism and pendency of decisions.

“The files should move automatically. There should be no stagnation of files at any level. Delay of a file by any single officer will affect the delivery of the fruits of the government schemes and programmes to people,” Reddy said in a release today.
