The Andhra Pradesh government is yet to complete the formalities for establishing a floating storage regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) unit at Kakinada port. The government had earlier said the facility would be ready by the end of this year to meet the fuel requirements of gas-based power plants in the state.

In a review meeting with the chief minister, officials of the infrastructure and investment department informed that the approval for the formation of a special purpose vehicle to execute the project and approval for the proposed memorandum of understanding to be signed between Kakinada Seaports Limited and state-government promoted AP Gas Distribution Company were still pending.

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has given in principle approval and directed the officials to see that the MoU is signed in 15 days, a release said.
