The state government has decided to join hands with Uttar Pradesh to promote Buddhist tourism.

According to state government sources, the Bihar Tourism will soon sign a MoU with its neighbouring state in this regard.

"Bihar and UP have a huge potential for Buddhist tourism," said one of the senior officials of the state tourism department, "however, due to the lack of basic infrastructure like roads, sanitation, good hotels and information, we are unable to retain most of our international guests. Therefore, we have decided to synchronise our efforts to develop tourism infrastructure, which will result in increase in the influx of foreign tourists."

In the first phase of the proposed plan, both the states will link up the places of Buddhist importance.
