Sensing partial victory with the Centre agreeing to a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam, BJP on Monday gave up its demand for a similar probe into other scams.

NDA leaders, who met at BJP leader LK Advani’s residence, said they, however, have decided to press the Centre for a debate in Parliament on issues of price rise, alleged scams surrounding the Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Housing Society, black money in foreign banks and the S-Band deal.

“The government will soon announce a JPC on 2G and we will demand a debate in Parliament on other issues of corruption and price rise that continue to trouble the people. We have been raising these issues earlier, and we will continue to do so,” said NDA convener Sharad Yadav, after the meeting of the allies.

Yadav said the Centre will soon bring a motion in Parliament on a JPC in 2G to discuss the terms of reference and the number of panel members. “Parliament will function normally after the government announces a JPC. We have always wanted that the Parliament should function.”
