The state government has constituted a four-member committee for formulation of the Entrepreneurship Development Policy to promote entrepreneurship in the state.

The panel includes Secretary, Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Additional Development Commissioner (MSME), Government of India, Director General, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, Noida and Director of Industries as its members.

"The role of entrepreneurship is not confined to only creation of enterprises but encompasses developing capacity to produce wealth, job and income which are direct indication of economic development. Considering the importance of the entrepreneurship, the government is pleased to decide to go for the state Entrepreneurship Development Policy," read a recent notification of the state MSME department.

The policy would stress on measures like awareness, promotion, skill development, networking and mentoring besides attempting to change the mind set of target groups.

The formation of the policy is also expected to pave way for creation of an entrepreneurship development society as promised by chief minister earlier.

"The state government would set up an entrepreneurship development society with incubators to provide training not just for setting up of new units but also provide continuing education in different aspects like product design, packaging, technology up-gradation, financial management and marketing. The MSME (micro, small & medium enterprises) department would be the nodal agency to take up this challenge," Naveen Patnaik had said at a sensitisation programme on developing entrepreneurship held recently.
