India and Norway on Thursday signed a 3-year agreement to cooperate in the area of climate change and implementation of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Projects of the Kyoto Protocol. The memorandum of understanding (MoU), which will be reviewed through regular bilateral consultations in the Indo-Norway Joint Working Group on Environment, will define areas of priority for the development and implementation of projects under the CDM. Besides facilitating Indian and Norwegian companies with information about domestic CDM regulations and procedures, as well as information about market opportunities in India, the two countries may jointly agree to define areas of priority for further development including adaptation to the impacts of climate change, research, development, development and scientific collaboration, and capacity building.
