The Kerala cabinet on Tuesday approved the recommendations of the District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram for acquisition of 7.8 hectares of land for the development of Technopark Phase III in Attipra Village, near Thiruvananthapuram.
With this, the land acquisition for Technopark Phase III is complete, and the work on the biggest IT building in the state with 1 million sft area would go ahead. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2011.
The Technopark board has allotted two acres of non-SEZ land in Phase III to HCL Technologies. The lease agreement for this will be signed on December 7 in the presence of chief minister V S Achuthanandan.
When the Phase III campus is fully operational, it will provide employment for about 20,000 to 25,000 IT professionals, according to Mervin Alexander, CEO of Technopark. The Phase III project is funded by a consortium of banks led by the South Indian Bank.
The project is being developed over 92 acres of land. Technopark has already commenced construction of a signature building with 1 million sft built-up area which will be one of the largest IT buildings in the country.
The park would allot land in Phase III to IT/ITeS companies and infrastructure development companies. The support facilities like 110 KV electricity sub-station, water supply system are ready, while work on sewage treatment plant, canal embankment, approach road, internal roads and bridges is in progress, a press release said.
