Munde Directs Police To Thackeray In Gulshan Case Murder Clue

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde has asked the Mumbai police to secure the names of some persons involved in the Gulshan Kumar murder from Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, who recently said he would disclose the names the names if he was approached.

Munde, who belongs to the BJP and holds the home portfolio, said: If Thackeray has any information, we will ask him to reveal the same. The police will verify the facts and on that basis action would be taken against the culprits. The necessary instructions had already been issued, he said while appearing in `Janata ki Adalat, a TV programme to be telecast tomorrow.

The police, he said, has unimpeachable information on the involvement of music composer Nadeem in the murder. Rs 45 lakh was paid for this murder. This was used to buy two cars. Two revolvers and six pagers were also purchased, he said.

In this connection he justified police inquiry against film stars. Is it morally correct for stars of the film industry to sing and dance at the invitation of mafia who are working against the nation and the society, he asked. We dont blame the entire film industry but there are black sheep in the film world, he added.

Munde blamed that the central government was not helping the state government in nabbing the noted criminal Dawood Ibrahim. the absence of an extradition treaty with the United Arab Emirates, where he has been staying, is hampering efforts of the Maharashtra government to arrest Ibrahim, Munde said. If we had been in power at the Centre also, we would have made the extradition treaty to bring back the criminlas, he added.
