The Andhra Pradesh government has entrusted a Rs 2,652 crore worth of multi-tower housing contract in Amaravati to NCC Limited, L&T and Shapoorji Pallonji with a mandate to complete the work in the next six months time.

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday approved the revised cost, which is 33 percent higher compared to the earlier figure of Rs 1,991 crore as the construction majors gear up for the opportunity.

The housing project comprises of 18 towers of luxury flats each with a built-up area of Rs 3,500 square feet for MLAs and the All India services officers, 22 towers with flat size of 1,200 square feet for non-gazetted government staff, 8 towers flats with 1,800 square feet size for Type 1 gazetted and 7 towers with slat sizes of 1,500 for Type 2 gazetted officer and 6 towers with flat size of 900 square feet for class 4 employees, according to the chief minister's office.

The designs for the towers and villas and blueprints and layouts of houses were prepared by Team One India Private Limited.

NCC and a few other local construction majors have also been entrusted with contracts related to other infrastructure related projects by the government.

In a review meeting on the progress of various projects in Amaravati, chief minister Naidu announced that 123 farmers from the capital region would be sent to Singapore for learning about the best practices in the fields of business and entrepreneurs.
