US President Barack Obama is hopeful of achieving tangible results during his "important" India visit in November and will focus mainly on the bilateral economic ties, the White House has said.
"The President is involved in fairly regular meetings with the national security team to ensure a successful visit not long after the (Congressional) elections. It's an important trip," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters.
"We understand... From the viewpoint...Economically,.. what we have to do to create jobs, to grow our exports, to ensure that it just doesn't just fall on American consumers to drive world demand. That's a lot of what you will hear the President talk about on that trip, and hopefully have some tangible results from it," Gibbs said.
The dates of Obama's trip have not been announced yet, but he is expected to arrive in India a day after Diwali.
Officials say this would be his longest ever overseas stay as the US President.
"Look, obviously, this is an important relationship. It was the first state dinner (for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh) that was held here. I think that gives you a degree of understanding in terms of the significance that this government and this administration puts on that relationship," Gibbs said.
The emphasis of this trip would be on the economic dimension of the relationship, he said.
