PM, Sonia to visit Puttaparthi today

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are arriving at Puttaparthi on Tuesday to pay last respects to Sathya Sai Baba who died on Sunday. Last rites of Sai Baba will be performed on Wednesday morning.

Senior BJP leader LK Advani and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's brother are among other important leaders who are coming to Puttaparthi on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister and the UPA chairperson will reach Puttaparthi tomorrow at 4 in the evening, officials said.

Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan and chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy are flying to Puttaparthi tomorrow to receive Singh and Sonia Gandhi and will return to the state capital after the completion of last rites.

Thousands of devotees from across the country and abroad are pouring into Puttaparthi to have a last glimpse of Sathya Sai Baba. Authorities said people would be allowed to visit the hall where Baba’s body is kept only till Tuesday evening.
