The Jagatsinghpur district administration has decided to submit the detailed report on socio-economic, forest and horticulture survey of the proposed Posco steel plant conducted in eight villages including the trouble torn Dhinkia village to the state government on July 1.

Though the survey at Dhinkia could not be completed due to non-cooperation of the villagers, the administration would submit the incomplete report to the government.

Narayan Chandra Jena, the Jagatsinghpur district collector said, “Officials have been pressed into service to scrutinize the detailed report of ensuing survey which would conclude on Wednesday. The survey report of Posco project will be submitted to the state government on July 1 after assessment of valuation and compensation.”

“The survey teams have collected data of betel vines, prawn gheris and other immovable assets without identification of beneficiaries. The number and area of prawn gheris, betel vines and other immovable assets have been included on this report. Efforts are going on to identify the number of beneficiaries as soon as possible for disbursement of compensation”, he added.

It may be noted that in 2008, no socio-economic survey was conducted at Dhinkia and Patana villages due to protest of the villagers.

Consequently, the district administration had submitted tentative figures of these two villages during that time.

This time too, the villagers of Dhinkia protested the socio-economic survey as a result of which the number of beneficiaries could not be identified. The teams only surveyed betel vines, prawn gheris, and other crops on government land of Dhinkia and Patana villages as 300 acres of private land was excluded at Dhinkia.

However, the socio economic, forest and horticulture survey have been completed in seven villages Gobindpur, Nuagaon, Gadkujang, Noliashai, Polang, Bhuiyanpal, and Bayanalkanda villages of the three village panchayats- Dhinkia, Nuagaon and Gadkujang.
