Describing the state-owned telecom equipment manufacturer ITI as the 'backbone' of the industry, Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal has assured that his ministry would do everything possible to revive it.
"Your company has been a backbone of telecom industry and we will not allow it to go down," he told the gathering after inaugurating new products lab at the ITI plant here yesterday.
An ITI release also quoted the Minister as having assured government support to ITI in areas such as defence business, R&D and the company's modernisation drive.
"We recognise, remember and appreciate ITI’s contribution to the telecom sector and let us work together for better days ahead," he said.
Telecom and IT Secretary R Chandrashekar and CMD of ITI KL Dhingra were among those present.
A brief presentation was made to the Minister by ITI management on various activities of the company, its diversification strategy, business road map and future plans.
