A massive bureaucratic reshuffle is in the offing in January, 2002. Nearly a dozen secretary-level officers will retire early next year. As many as 22 secretaries will have retired by June, 2002.
The first in this list, Narayan Valluri, who was with the Expenditure Reforms Commission, retired on September 30. Those who leave in the next two months are the following: tourism secretary, MP Bezbaruah (December 31); secretary in the department of statistics, Irniraya (October 31); higher education secretary, MK Kaw (November 30); social justice secretary, Asha Das (October 31); the chief of the Greater NOIDA Authority, RS Mathur (November 30); and J Sanyal, a secretary-level officer of the West Bengal cadre, currently awaiting posting (October 31).
