US green energy meet to help grid sales

The United States Energy Association (USEA) will hold a workshop on "Grid connected renewable energy and cogeneration/Independent power" with funding from the US Department of State under the Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate.
 
This event will be inaugurated on April 10 and speakers will include secretary V Subramanian of the ministry of renewable energy, along with Sunil Mitra, secretary of the department of power of West Bengal, S P Gon Chaudhuri, secretary of the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency, Aileen Nandi of the US Consulate, Steve Enyeart of the Bonneville Power Administration, Jaspal Deol and David Brown of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and Richard Brent of Solar Turbines.
 
The purpose of the workshop was to promote policy and regulatory changes and encourage incentives to accelerate the development and interconnection of renewable energy and distributed generation projects into the Indian power system.
 
The workshop was expected to draw distribution utility executives, project developers, regulators, investors, and government policy makers.
 
The topics to be covered would include interconnecting to the power grid, maintaining grid reliability and stability, as also policies, regulation and incentives for renewable/cogeneration development, power purchase agreements, and successful renewable energy and cogeneration technologies and projects.
 
A site visit to the Solar Housing Complex New Town would be organized by the West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency for workshop participants as the complex was the first grid connected solar housing project in India.
