After creating a world-record for the largest number of contracts on the first day of trading, the United Stock Exchange of India (USE) achieved a turnover of Rs 25,067.48 crore in the currency futures trading today.
"The trading volume of dollar-rupee currency pair stood at Rs 23,607.42-crore, pound-rupee at Rs 252.17-crore, euro-rupee at Rs 225.39 crore and yen-rupee at Rs 163.47-crore," said the USE data released on its website.
USE, which was launched yesterday, has become the first Indian stock exchange to enter the record-books for creating largest number of contracts traded by any exchange on the first day of trading, read a statement by the Exchange.
By the close of trading on Day 1 (September 20), the volumes on the USE were a staggering $9.88-billion, capturing a 52 per cent marketshare and becoming the number one exchange in the currency futures segment, it said.
No other exchange in the world has traded more than 9.88-million contracts on its first day of trading, making this a remarkable feat for the Indian capital markets and United Stock Exchange.
USE launched operations in currency futures trading yesterday with 4 currency pairs--dollar-rupee, euro-rupee, yen-rupee and pound-rupee.
