The state has posted a total turnout of 61.57% against 51.17% in 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Violence prone Bhind constituency registered only 45% voting against 35% polling in 2009.
According to chief electoral officer; high profile constituency Chhindwara posted highest polling at 79.05%. The constituency has seven state assembly seats. Of them three are with the Congress.
Nine districts of Madhya Pradesh posted more than 70 polling during the recently concluding Lok Sabha elections in the state. While 20 districts have posted polling between 60% and 70%. The elections have been completed in the state in three phases.
While newly created Agar-Malwa district registered 70% voting, Burhanpur district bordering Maharashtra registered 72.89%, Neemuch and Mandsaur 71.58% and 71.21 percent polling respectively. Both the districts are in proximity of Rajasthan. Similarly, Dewas district registered 70.96% followed by Ratlam 70.82%, Sehore 70.59% and tribal dominated Dindori district with 70.22% voting.
Chhindwara also registered highest voting by female voters followed by Burhanpur district with 76.89 and 70.86 polling percent respectively.
Those districts where voting was in bracket of 60-70% include; Dindori 67.65%, Neemuch 66.89%, Balaghat 66.88%, Ratlam 66.78%, Shahdol 66.67%, Barwani 66.36%, Seoni 65.85%, Mandsaur 65.63%, Dewas 65.44%, Khandwa 65.11%, Sehore 63.69%, Khargone 63.07%, Mandla 62.74%, Agar-Malwa 62.64%, Hoshangabad 62.62%, Betul 62.57%, Jhabua 62.28%, Shajapur 61.96%, Dhar 60.54%, Satna 60.28% and Ujjain 60.10%. In all, 15 districts registered between 50 and 60 percent polling. Polling took place in 29 Lok Sabha constituencies of Madhya Pradesh on April 10, 17 and 24.
