BJP candidate Smriti Irani today charged Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi with making a joke of his "family ties with Amethi" which despite being regarded as a VVIP area lacked development.

The youth here are unemployed, roads are in bad shape... and Rahul Gandhi is showing lollypops of national highways to the constituency, she said at election meetings in Tala Khajuri, Gosainganj, Mahaajpur and Shazipur areas here.

She said it was most unfortunate that land of farmers here was acquired for setting up industries but the youth did not get jobs in them.
