The rupee gained 14 paise to 45.53 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today on continued capital inflows from foreign funds.
Forex dealers said that gains in other Asian currencies against the dollar also supported the rupee.
The rupee had gained 3 paise to close at a four-month high of 45.67/68 against the US currency yesterday on sustained capital inflows amid a rally in domestic equities.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange index Sensex rose by 103.99 points, or 0.51 per cent, to 20,105.54 points in opening trade today.
