Public sector lender Union Bank of India today said its net profit for the third quarter of the current fiscal grew 84.03 per cent at Rs 671.74 crore as compared to Rs 365.02 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
The PSU lender's total income rose to Rs 3,653.79 crore for the quarter ended December 31, from Rs 2,806.04 crore a year ago.
For the nine-month period to December-end, Union Bank registered a net profit of Rs 1,261.49 crore, a 45.68 per cent growth over the same period a year ago.
It had a net profit of Rs 865.90 crore in the same period in FY08.
Union Bank of India was trading at Rs 143, down 2.99 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
