American media trying to rig US presidential polls: Mike Pence

Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence has alleged that the US media is trying the rig the general elections with its biased coverage, urging his supporters to be aware of the possibility of "voter fraud".

Addressing an election rally at Miami in Florida, he claimed the media "is trying to rig this election with their biased coverage."

"In terms of the actual vote itself, if you're here at a rally and you've not yet volunteered to participate in the electoral process by respectfully providing accountability at a polling place come Election Day, then you haven't yet done all you can do," Pence said.

"Voter fraud cannot be tolerated by anyone in this nation. Demand that our public officials are upholding the integrity of the vote, but do all you can to respectfully participate in the process and ensure the outcome, an outcome we can all be proud of," he said.

"I do have to tell you, in the midst of the avalanche of evidence of political favouritism and outright corruption and deceit that's flowing out of the Clinton years in the midst of the willful ignorance of the national media about all of that and in the midst of daily and unsubstantiated attacks on my running mate (Donald trump), it's easy to lose sight that this election really is about big things," he added.

He said the presidential polls are about things that affect every American and impact their families.

Slamming President Barack Obama, Pence alleged that his foreign policy, and of his former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is now the Democratic presidential nominee, has made the world unsafe.

"On the front of national security, despite traveling millions of miles as our Secretary of State, the world is more dangerous today than the day that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton took over the foreign policy of the United States," he said.

"Our allies are less secure, our enemies are more emboldened. In seven-and-a-half years of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton's brand of leadership on the world stage has, literally, weakened America's place in the world," he added.

Pence further said, "Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's foreign policy of leading from behind, moving red lines, feigning resets with Russia, and paying ransom to terrorist-sponsoring states is emblematic of weak and feckless leadership on the world stage".

Backing Trump, he said when the republican presidential nominee becomes the President of the United States "we won't be paying ransom to terrorist-sponsoring states. They'll be paying a price if they threaten the American people, or detain or harm our citizens".

"It was Clinton who failed to renegotiate a status of forces agreement in Iraq that had all US troops leave at the end of 2012 and create the vacuum in which ISIS was literally conjured up out of the desert to overrun vast areas that had been hard won by the American soldier," Pence said.
