Twitter has reportedly appointed NBC News digital executive Vivian Schiller as the head for the microblogging site's news department.
An excited Schiller tweeted that she would be joining Twitter in January and leaving his current employer NBC News at the year's end, adding that she was grateful to his beloved colleagues.
According to Fox News, along with Schiller, Reuters outgoing Digital Chief Jim Roberts was also speculated to be competing for the post that is meant to be a liaison between Twitter and news organizations.
Schiller has served as senior vice president and chief digital officer at NBC News, and prior to that, she was the CEO of National Public Radio.
The report said that the microblogging site, set for its public debut in the coming month, is used by many news organizations to reach readers who are increasingly using social media platforms to consume news.
