Management students can help in improvement of public delivery system

Management institutes and government departments need to work together to improve the public delivery system in the country, said H R Khan, executive director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Addressing the students of the Institute for Management-Bhubaneswar (IMB) at the 13th convocation of the institute, Khan said, “The students of management institutes and the government departments can work together to improve the public delivery system in the country. The students of such institutes can take up internships in various departments of the government and can offer suggestions as well solutions to streamline public delivery.”

He called upon management students to work on their communication skills. He further said the focus has to be on inclusive growth and there is a huge market at the bottom of the pyramid which has to be tapped effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Aravinda Tripathy, dean of Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT-Kharagpur said, for the contemporary managers, there is no substitute for analytical ability as it is the only way to take things forward.

He advised the students of IMB to stick to their values without getting getting carried away by alluring job offers.

In his address to the students, Arya Pattnaik, chairman-IMB said, “Never compromise on your core values and if at all you change, decide only to change for the better. You also need to look beyond your own discipline to set new creative benchmarks.”

S K Nayak, director, IMB also spoke on the occasion. In all, 86 students of IMB were awarded certificates for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course at the convocation programme.
