BSE Mid, Smallcap indices hit new high

Shares of mid-and-smallcap companies continued their upward trend with the S&P BSE Midcap and S&P BSE Smallcap indices hitting their respective new highs in otherwise subdued market.
At 12:16 am; S&P BSE Smallcap and Midcap index were up 0.40% and 0.29%, respectively, as compared to 0.19% decline in the S&P BSE Sensex on Friday.
The midcap (14,327) and smallcap (14,832) indices hit their respective record highs in intra-day trade today.
TVS Motor Company, MRF, LIC Housing Finance, JSW Steel and Bharat Electronics from the midcap hit their respective all-time highs.
Adani Transmission, GIC Housing Finance, Ashoka Buildcon, Godrej Properties, Tata Metaliks and Zuari Agro Chemicals are among 28 stocks from the smallcap index that touched record highs today.
TVS Motor Company was up 4% to Rs 469, extending 4% gain in past three trading days, after recorded 10% year on year growth in total sales at 2.56 lakh units in the month of March 2017.
The company had commenced manufacture and sale of BS IV compliant stocks much before the transition date of March 31, 2017. Consequently, the stocks of BS III compliant products with the dealers were progressively coming down. The company is assessing the one-time impact of this transition on the financials of the company, the statement said.
Adani Transmission surged 9% to Rs 83 in intra-day trade on back of an over five-fold jump in trading volumes.
In current week, the stock rallied 30% after the company said that it has received the three Letter of Intents (LOIs) from RVPN (Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam) to construct, own, operate and maintain three transmission projects in the state of Rajasthan.
With completion of all ongoing projects and acquisition of Reliance Infra’s operational transmission assets along with these three projects, the network of Adani Transmission is expected to surpass 11000 ckt kms, it added.
