Cardamom futures extend weakness on subdued demand

Explore Business Standard

Cardamom futures prices continued to slide for the fourth day in a row and lost another Rs 26.80 to Rs 864.90 per kg today largely in tandem with weak trend at the spot markets on sluggish demand.
Increased arrivals from producing regions at spot markets, also put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for January delivery fell by Rs 26.90, or 3 per cent, to Rs 869.50 per kg, with a business volume of just one lot.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in February declined by Rs 26.80, or 3.01 per cent, to Rs 864.90 per kg, with a business turnover of one lot.
Marketmen said weak trend at the spot markets owing to slackened demand amid increased supplies, mainly weighed on the cardamom futures prices.
