Shares of public sector undertaking (PSU) banks were under pressure with the Nifty PSU Bank index dipped more than 3% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Canara Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce were down more than 5% each, while Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, IDBI Bank, Bank of Baroda and State Bank of India were down in the range of 3%-4% on NSE.
At 03:15 pm, Nifty PSU Bank index, the largest loser among sectoral indices, down 3.4%, as compared to 1.3% decline in the benchmark Nifty 50 and 1.2% fall in the Nifty Bank index.
