The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has extended discounts of up to 45 per cent in transaction charges for trading on its equity derivatives platform for two months till December 31, a move that will help bring in more liquidity in the segment.

The decision has been taken after receiving feedback from market participants.

The exchange, in December last year, lowered transaction charges for trading on its equity derivatives or equity options segment. These were applicable till January 31, 2015. Since then, the exchange has extended the discounts several times.

"It has been decided to re-introduce the concession scheme in the transaction charges in equity options segment for the period of two months effective from November 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015," NSE said in a circular.

The move is part of NSE's effort to improve the liquidity in the equity options segment.

In equity options, NSE will give a flat concession of 45 per cent in the transaction charges levied on the incremental billable turnover or premium value, above Rs 1,200 crore beginning today.

Further, a concession of 32 per cent will be levied on turnover ranging Rs 799 crore to Rs 1,299 crore.
