Over 100 stocks hit 52-week lows on BSE

Among the sectoral classifications, BSE Metal, Oil &Gas, Power and Realty index have touched 52-week lows.

ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Tata Steel and Hindalco Industries are among the 11 stocks from the 30-share Sensex and 50-share Nifty that have touched their respective 52-week lows after the benchmark indices fell nearly four percentage points each in early morning trades.

Cairn India, Gail (India), NMDC, NTPC, Tata Power Company and Vedanta are other six companies from the benchmark index to hit 52-week lows.

Meanwhile, an over-1,000 points correction in the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index Sensex in the early morning trades has dragged 127 stocks to 52-week lows today.

The S&P BSE Sensex has tanked 1,006 points or 3.7% to 26,360, while CNX Nifty has dipped 309 points or 3.7% to 7,991 in early morning trades after the Wall Street crashed on the Friday owing to concerns over economic slowdown in China, the world’s second largest economy.

Of these 127 stocks, 42 scrips are from the frontline ‘A’ group, 80 from ‘B’ group and five from ‘T’ and ‘D’ group, the BSE data shows.

Dena Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab & Sindh Bank, South Indian Bank and Vijaya Bank from banking sector, Tata Sponge Iron, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and National Aluminium from metal sector have hit their respective 52-week lows in intra-day trades.

Among the sectoral classifications, BSE Metal, Oil & Gas, Power and Realty index have touched 52-week lows today.

The continued sell-off in US markets reflects the recent downward momentum for the markets, which has come amid overarching concerns about developing economies and the outlook for US interest rates.

European markets ended Friday's session solidly in negative territory, capping the weakest trading week so far in 2015. Investor concerns over upcoming snap elections in Greece and the continued sell-off in the Chinese stock market has dampened sentiment, the broking firm Angel Broking said in a client note.

At 10:02 AM, Sensex was down 3% or 846 points at 26,520, while Nifty too down 3% or 261 points at 8,039.
