The markets continue to languish in the negative territory on the back of unabated selling pressure in realty and auto stocks. The BSE realty and auto indices have both slipped over 2% each to 2,408 and 0,206, respectively.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark index - the Sensex - which touched a low of 19,269, is now around 19,285 - down 166 points. The NSE Nifty has declined 45 points to 5,797.
Index heavyweights - Reliance, HDFC and HDFC Bank are the major draggers - accounting for a net loss of 85 points on the Sensex at current levels.
DLF is the major loser, down over 3% at Rs 251. Tata Motors too has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 1,219.
Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra and Jindal Steel are the other major losers among the Sensex 30 stocks.
On the other hand, there are no major gainers in the Sensex stocks - however, Cipla, Sterlite and BHEL are few among the notable movers.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,800 stocks traded today, 1,666 have declined and 1,041 have advanced on the BSE.
