Sensex down 420pts; breadth extremely -ve

The Sensex is now down 420 points at 11,275.

Jaiprakash Associates has slumped 9% to Rs 92. Wipro has plunged over 8% to Rs 281.

Sterlite and ICICI Bank have tumbled over 7% each to Rs 291 and Rs 451, respectively.

Satyam has shed 6.5% at Rs 261. Tata Steel has dropped 5.7% to Rs 337.

TCS, Tata Motors and SBI have slipped over 5% each to Rs 545, Rs 300 and Rs 1,336, respectively.

Hindalco, ITC and HDFC Bank were down around 4.5% each at Rs 91, Rs 167 and Rs 1,078, respectively.

Ranbaxy has soared over 9% to Rs 280. Tata Power has surged 3.7% to Rs 796.

Maruti has rallied 2.8% to Rs 690. Mahindra & Mahindra has advanced 1.7% to Rs 481, and DLF has added 1.3% to Rs 307.

Out of 2,627 stocks traded so far, 2,217 have declined, 368 have advanced and 42 are unchanged.
