Sensex ends flat

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 16,669 - down eight points. The Nifty has ended (provisional) down nine points at 4,948.

The Sensex after exhibiting sideways movement , is now moving up. The index is now at 16,752, up 75 points. The NSE Nifty is now at 4,982, up 23 points.

Hindalco has surged 4.5% to Rs 137. ACC, Maruti Suzuki and Grasim have rallied over 3% each to Rs 825, Rs 1,560 and Rs 2,775, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has gained nearly 3% to Rs 432. Wipro and TCS have advanced over 2% each to Rs 567 and Rs 582, respectively.

Tata Power has added nearly 2% to Rs 1,330. Jaiprakash Associates, Infosys and HDFC Bank have gained 1.5% each to Rs 243, Rs 2,353 and Rs 1,533, respectively.

Reliance Communication is up over 1% to Rs 311.

Among the Nifty gainers, HCL Technologies has climbed 6.5% to Rs 342. National Aluminium has gained 1.5% to Rs 354.
