The Sensex after touching a high of 17,329 has pared some of its gains and is now at 17,239, up 41 points.
The NSE Nifty is at 5,141, up 18 points.
ICICI Bank has led the list of gainers on the BSE, up 2.5% at Rs 909. Tata Motors and Jaiprakash Associates have aded 2% each at Rs 717 and Rs 233, respectively.
DLF, Maruti,SBI and Bharti Airtel have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 378, Rs 1,616, Rs 2,328 and Rs 309, respectively.
The other marginal losers include BHEL, Infosys and Grasim , down 1% each at Rs 2,209, Rs 2,372 and Rs 2,377, respectively.
The market breadth is positive, out of 2,277 shares traded, 1,490 have advanced and 709 have declined so far on the BSE.
Among the sectoral indices, realty and bankex indices have added over 1.5% each at 3,954 and 10,435, respectively.
