The NSE Nifty is up 60 points at 5,018.
Tata Steel has soared 6.7% to Rs 770, and Jaiprakash Associates has surged nearly 6% to Rs 230.
Bharti Airtel has rallied 4.3% to Rs 859. Reliance Communications has advanced 3.5% to Rs 549, and Ranbaxy has gained over 3% at Rs 495.
Hindalco, Grasim, NTPC and Larsen & Toubro have moved up around 2.7% each to Rs 192, Rs 2,640, Rs 195 and Rs 2,851, respectively.

Satyam has shed 2% at Rs 460. Infosys has slipped 1.7% to Rs 1,639, and BHEL is down 1% at Rs 1,639.
Out of 2,717 stocks traded so far, 2,022 have advanced, 648 have declined and 47 are unchanged.
