Sensex wipes out losses

The Sensex has recovered from its day's low and has rebounded into the positive for a brief while. The index is now at 16,846, down 18 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,988, down 9 points.

Hindalco and Hinduatan Unilever have advanced 4.5% each o Rs 123 and Rs 278,respectively. ITC and Sterlite have added over 3% each to Rs 246 and Rs 774, respectively.

SBI and ONGC are up around 1.5% each.

Bharti Airtel has plunged 12% to Rs 354 and Reliance Communications has tumbled around 11% to Rs 268.

DLF, Tata Motors, ACC and Jaiprakash Associates are down 1-3% each.

The market breadth remains extremely negative, out of 2,718 shares traded, 1,959 declined and 695 advanced so far on the BSE.

The BSE TECk has slumped 4% to 3,098 and realty index is down 2%.
