Silver prices gained Rs 188 to Rs 24,936 per kg in futures trading today on buying influenced by a positive global trend.

Silver for the far-month contract rose by Rs 188 or 0.76 per cent to Rs 24,936 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange with an open interest of 3,460 lots.

The metal for delivery in March also edged up by Rs 156 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 24,685 per kg in a turnover of 18,279 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by traders in line with a positive global trend pushed up silver prices at the futures market.

Meanwhile, silver traded up marginally by 0.01 cent to $15.52 an ounce in New York last evening.
