Sugar ends lower on ample supply, less offtake

Sugar prices fell by Rs 75 per quintal in the national capital today on restricted buying in the face of adequate stocks position.

The release of free-sale sugar quota by the government also put pressure on sugar prices.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices dropped from Rs 2,930-3,030 and Rs 2,920-3,020 to settle at Rs 2,875-2,960 and Rs 2,965-2,950 per quintal.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price also slipped to finish at Rs 2,750-2,880 and Rs 2,740-2,870 per quintal.

Among millgate section, sugar titabi quoted lower at Rs 2,870 while budhana traded lower at Rs 2,830 per quintal.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,875-2,960 and S-30 2,865-2,950.

Mill delivery M-30 2,750-2,870 and S-30 2,740-2860.

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,920, Asmoli 2,910, Mawana 2,850, Titabi 2,870, Thanabhavan 2,840, Budhana 2,830 and Dorala 2,845.
