Top stock picks from 10 brokerages for Samvat 2072

Samvat 2071 turned out to be a year of consolidation for the Indian markets. The S&P BSE Sensex and the Nifty 50 lost 4.1% and 2.9%, respectively. The last time it recorded negative return was during Samvat 2067 when the frontline benchmark indices lost nearly 17.7% each.

From a near-term perspective, analysts say the increasing odds in favour of a December fed rate lift-off continue to unnerve investors. 

“As we move into the post earnings season, markets would be betting on the prospects of reforms in the upcoming winter session. Investors should consider accumulating quality stocks during such periods of market corrections,” said Sanjeev Zarbade, Vice President, Private Client Group Research, Kotak Securities.

Pradeep Gupta, co-founder & vice chairman at AnandRathi Financial Services expects the markets to remain in a range for the next two quarters given the lack of earnings growth. 

"Earnings are expected to pick up from March 2016, which will lead to a gradual pick up in the broad market. Nifty could reclaim its previous peak of 9,100 by March 2016 and possibly move up on favourable macro conditions," he says.
