The Hyderabad Police on Monday nabbed 10 people for allegedly trying to circulate 'outdated' Turkish currency Lira.

The gang was allegedly trying to circulate the Lira currency notes from pre-2005 series, which are no longer in circulation in Turkey and are not accepted as a new series of Lira notes

"Yesterday around 4 pm, we had got information about three gangs from Karimnagar, Guntur and Rajamundry gathering near Umesh nagar PS limits to exchange the Turkey banned notes. Our inspectors hatched a plan. We send a party. We apprehended all gang members," said M. Venkateshwarlu, ACP, Panjagutta.

The accused persons and the seized currency have been handed over to Malkajgiri police for further investigation.
