16 former ministers served eviction notices for unauthorized stay

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government today asked 16 former ministers to relocate from government accommodation.

The ministers were served eviction notices for unauthorized stay and also owed damage charges of Rs 21 lakhs per month. Apart from this there are 683 government flats under unauthorized occupation for a period ranging from one month to 21 years.

The 16 former ministers of the (United Progressive Alliance) UPA government are reportedly staying unauthorized in government bungalows for over a month now and they have been served eviction notices.

Minister of Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu informed this in a written reply today to Anurag Thakur, P.C. Gaddigoudar and Hukumdev Narayan Yadav, Members of Lok Sabha.

Naidu also informed that these ministers owe total damage charges of Rs 20, 92,463 for one month of unauthorized stay till July 6, 2014.

Other former ministers who are in unauthorized possession of such bungalows included Kapil Sibal, Ajit Singh, Farooq Abdullah, Beni Prasad Verma, Pallam Raju, Girija Vyas, Krishna Tirath, S.K. Jena, Sachin Pilot, Jitendra Singh, Pradip Jain Aditya, Porika Balram Naik, Killi Kriparani and Manikrao Hodya Gavit.

Naidu further informed that another 21 former ministers are staying in general pool bungalows and they have been given fifteen days' time to move into their entitled accommodation to be provided by respective House Committees.

These former ministers who are members of either Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha and have been advised to obtain accommodation from their respective pools include A.K. Anthony, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Veerappa Moily, Vyalar Ravi, Oscar Fernandes, Jairam Ramesh, Jyothiraditya Scindia, K.V. Thomas, K.Ranhman Khan, K.H. Muniyappa, Shasi Tharoor, Dr.K.Chiranjivi, Mullappally Ramachandran, Rajiv Shukla, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, A.H. Khan Choudhury, Ninon Erring, Dr. E.M. Sudershan Nachiappan, K.C. Venugopal and J. Seelam.
