In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll due to spurious liquor consumption in Etah has reached to 17 whereas 14 are still undergoing treatment at Saifai Medical College of Etawah, where their condition is said to be serious.
The state Police Headquarters has issued a list of 17 persons who lost their lives in the tragedy so far.
The police nabbed the absconding main accused Shripal from Nayagaon police area of the district.
Taking a strong cognizance of the tragedy, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced suspension of Sub Divisional Magisatre, Circle Officer, District Excise Officer, SHO of concerned area.
Meanwhile, six other policemen were also suspended in the matter, said SSP Etah Ajai Shankar Rai.
The Chief Minister also said the state would bear the expenses of treatment of those who lost eyesight in the tragedy.
District Magistrate Ajay Yadav announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased.
A case was registered under Section 60 of the Excise Act and 304 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with culpable homicide.
On Friday night, five persons died and several others seriously got ill after they consumed country made illicit liquor from the shop of one Shripal under Aliganj police area of Etah.
