Planning to hit the California road this weekend? You may want to change your mind as this Fourth of July is projected to have a record breaking rate of travel since 2007.
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), more than 41.9 million Americans, and 4.8 million California residents are expected to be travelling at least 50 miles this year's holiday weekend.
The vacation plans are a result of how low gas prices and the money saved because of it, and AAA Wisconsin spokesperson Nick Jarmusz said that the average American family had saved over 500 dollars on gas costs as compared to what they paid for the first six months of 2014.
Survey showed that travel was up 0.7 percent from 2014 and air travel was also expected to go up with a 1.8 percent increase from last year, FOX6Now.com reported.
However, modes of transportation such as train, bus, and watercraft were likely to go down with a decrease of 0.4 percent compared to last year.
