Around 63 percent of prisoners who appeared in intermediate and high school examinations in Uttar Pradesh, have passed them.
About 101 prisoners out of 161 passed the examinations, which were held across eight prisons located at Bareilly, Varanasi, Fatehgarh, Ghaziabad, Firozabad, Meerut, Gorakhpur and Lucknow.
While 83 persons appeared for the intermediate exam, 78 appeared for the high school exam. Of the 83 who appeared for the intermediate exam, 22 secured first division.
Prison officials said appropriate arrangements have been made by them to ferry those appearing for the exams back to their cells.
