Up to 50 envelopes of what is believed to be heroin were found in the apartment Philip Seymour Hoffman, who recently died from an apparent drug overdose in New York, according to reports.

Police investigating the 46-year-old's death found several empty bags branded "Ace of Hearts" and about 50 other envelopes stamped with the "Ace of Spades" logo in his apartment in Greenwich Village, CNN reported.

Detectives also found more than 20 used syringes in a plastic cup and several other bags of white powder, CNN said, citing two unnamed law enforcement officials involved in the investigation.

The actor was found dead in his apartment lying on the floor with a hypodermic needle in his left arm, according to reports.
