7 immunity-boosting tea to sip during monsoon

Tea is an integral part of Indian culture and society for a long time. It is valued for its medicinal properties, as well as enjoyed as a beverage.

Cold, cough, flu, fever, pneumonia are some common diseases that spread during the monsoon season, so here are seven immunity boosting tea to sip to beat the flu:

Herbal Tea

It is one of the most universally appreciated beverages consumed to enhance immunity, boost brain functions and combat exhaustion. It contains herbs that are full of vitamin C, which is important for building up a strong immune system to fight off all the germs.

White Tea

This tea is the best during rainy reason as it holds the highest content of antioxidant as they are least processed. White tea also preserves the skin natural collagen, which means it protects the skin from various external factors such as bacteria, UV rays. Also, levels of tannins are lower in white tea as compared to the other varieties.

Green Tea

This tea makes the immune system strong by giving protection against oxidative stress and also plays a role in the prevention of autoimmune disease. It also contains potassium, iron, calcium, protein, vitamin C, and A. Apart from this it also contains antibiotic properties necessary for the promotion of overall health.

Pepper Mint Tea

Peppermint tea is an infusion made from peppermint leaves and is consumed as tea. This kind of tea has menthol in it which is helpful in lowering high-grade fever, controlling dry cough. It also helps in relieving abdominal gas, bloating, muscle spasms and nausea.

These spices have the ability to fight microbial infections, cough, cold and flu.

Hibiscus Tea

"Hibiscus tea is rich in Vitamin C, anthocyanin and antioxidants, it will keep your skin and scalp healthy and prevent any infection or itchiness that comes along with the rains," said Puja Hajrai, Senior Dietician, BLK Super Speciality Hospital.

Spiced Rose Tea

Rose is known as a mood enhancer, bringing about a feeling of instant refreshment and when mixed with healing spices, it becomes a perfect beverage to sip during the rainy season.
