Eleven people, including eight female acrobats were injured fell from an aerial platform at a circus in the U.S. state of Rhode Island on Sunday morning local time.
According to the BBC, one of acrobats is still in a critical state after she and seven others plummeted about 10 meters or 32 feet to the ground after the scaffolding structure holding them collapsed.
A circus spokesman said the performers were in the middle of a hair-hanging and motorbike high-wire act.
Officials say they have launched an investigation into the accident.
The accident occurred during the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus show in Providence. A dancer on the ground was among those hurt.
The injured are being treated at the Rhode Island Trauma Center.
The collapse was reported to police about 45 minutes into the show.
